Use Consciousness to Interfere
Behavior Change Strategies
This strategy involves making users consciously aware of their automatic behaviors so they can choose to act differently. By inserting a moment of reflection between cue and response, you break the automaticity.
Think of it as adding a "speed bump" in the habit loop — a pause that lets conscious decision-making (System 2) override automatic responses (System 1).
Example: A spending tracker that shows "You've already spent $127 on dining this week" before you order food delivery.
