Five Forces Model

Understanding the Product

Porter's Five Forces analyzes the competitive intensity and attractiveness of a market. The five forces are: competitive rivalry, threat of new entrants, bargaining power of suppliers, bargaining power of buyers, and threat of substitutes.

For UX designers, this framework provides context on why certain product decisions are made and what external pressures shape the product.

Understanding these forces helps designers advocate for user-centered decisions within business constraints.
