Making it Incidental

Behavior Change Strategies

Making it incidental means embedding the desired behavior into something the user is already doing, so it happens as a natural byproduct rather than a separate effort.

The user doesn't have to think "I need to do X." Instead, X happens automatically as part of their existing workflow.

Example: Rounding up purchases to the nearest dollar and saving the difference (Acorns app). The saving happens incidentally during normal spending.
