Avoid Choice Overload
UX Best Practices
Choice overload (paradox of choice) occurs when too many options lead to decision paralysis, decreased satisfaction, and even choosing nothing at all.
The famous jam study: When given 24 jam samples, 3% of shoppers bought. With 6 samples, 30% bought. More choices = fewer purchases.
For UX: Curate options, provide recommendations, use progressive disclosure, and default to the most common choice.
